Morgan P. Lorio, M.D. FACS

A graduate of Louisiana State University, Dr. Lorio completed his general surgical internship and orthopedic residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed a hand and microsurgery fellowship at The Hand Center of Western New York and received additional training in plastic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, Dr. Lorio also completed the Simmons Spine Fellowship and a clinical practice fellowship with Dr. Hanson Yuan at the Health Science Center Syracuse.
Dr. Lorio seeks the most innovative ways to approach spinal and extremity surgeries. He focused his skills and energies on minimally invasive spine and peripheral nerve surgery and continually strives to improve both scientific knowledge and patient care. In the effort to discover new surgical techniques, he works directly with the medical device companies on new less-invasive techniques and products that will reduce recovery time, minimize postoperative pain and decrease the size and appearance of scars.
Dr. Lorio introduced no-stick, no dye MRI myelography in Louisiana. He was the first surgeon in Louisiana to perform microendoscopic discectomy "band-aid" surgery and subsequently introduced this technology to the Tri-Cities area. In addition, he was one of the first surgeons to implant Interpore Cross International's oval-shaped GEO cages. Dr. Lorio serves as a consultant for Exactech Corporation's Opteform, a thermoplastic polymer that is mixed with allograft to create a bone filler.
He is a member of the American Boards of Orthopedics and Spine Surgery (with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery), the North American Spine Society, Simmons Surgical Society, the Spine Arthroplasty Society, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the Orthopedic Trauma Association. He Has published numerous articles and lectured internationally. Recognized by the Profiles of Hand Surgery in North America, Dr. Lorio is an assistant clinical professor at East Tennessee State University.

John Testerman, M.D. FAAOS

A graduate of North Georgia College and State University (Summa Cum Laude) and the Medical college of Georgia, Dr. Testerman completed his general surgery internship and residency at Jacksonville Health Educations Programs in Jacksonville Florida. He practiced general Orthopedics in Albany Georgia for eleven years before moving north to Bristol Tennessee in 1994. He was Board certified in 1986 and re-certified in 1997 and his particular fields of interest are in total joint arthroplasty, operative arthroscopy, and pediatric orthopedics. He is a member of the Tennessee Medical Association, the Tennessee Orthopedic Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons
He is constantly evaluating and searching for new and innovative ways to improve the function and comfort of his patients, using alternative bearings (rotating platform knees, metal on metal and ceramic on ceramic hips), and pioneered computer assisted total knee Arthroplasty at Bristol. He is closely following the development of the Diamond on Diamond Bearings for Total Hip Arthroplasty.
Dr. Testerman completed a mini-fellowship with Dr. Jim Andrews in operative arthroscopy of the shoulder and can repair rotator cuff tears, ACL tears and glenoid labrum tears as an outpatient with minimal scars and pain when compared with conventional surgeries. He was the director of Children’s Medical Service Orthopedic Clinic in Albany, Georgia before moving to Bristol and continues to enjoy working with children’s orthopedic problems having trained with Dr. Wood Lovell while in Jacksonville. “We strive to provide the most comprehensive and innovative orthopedic care for our patients from the newborn to the most venerable".
